Frequently asked questions about Freemasonry
Q. What does Freemasonry teach about the Bible?
This is a direct quote from Chase’s Digest of Masonic Law.
“To require that a candidate profess a belief in the divine authority of the Bible is a serious innovation in the very body of Masonry. The Jews, the Chinese, the Turks, each reject the Old or the New Testament, or both, and yet we see no good reason why they should not be made masons. In fact, Blue Lodge Masonry has nothing whatever to do with the Bible. It is not founded on the Bible. If it were, it would not be masonry.”
A.Freemasonry teaches that most informed Masons believe it is a mistake to interpret the Holy Bible literally because it would flatly contradict what masonry is teaching. Also, the Holy Bible should be interpreted allegorically, symbolically, or mystically and it is no more important than any other religious book.
Q.Do Masons teach salvation?
Quotes from Masonic Rituals below
Entered Apprentice“…necessary to obtain admittance into the Celestial Lodge above, where the Supreme architect of the Universe presides.”
Fellow Craft “…necessary to obtain for you the approval of the Grand Architect of the Universe.”
Master Mason“…stands naked and alone before the great white throne, may it be your portion to hear from Him who sitteth as Judge Supreme the welcome words, “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”.
A.Yes,Freemasonry teaches keeping the secrets of the craft and keeping your apron clean (doing good works and being virtuous) are necessary for gaining immortality of the soul
Q.What does Freemasonry have to do with Shrines?
A.A person must be a Freemason before becoming a member of the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. All Shriners regardless of religious greed take their oath on the Quran and profess Allah as god.
Q. Are Members bound by the oaths?
A.NOLeviticus 5:4-6
4 “ ‘Or if a person thoughtlessly takes an oath to do anything, whether good or evil—in any matter one might carelessly swear about—even though he is unaware of it, in any case when he learns of it he will be guilty. 5 “ ‘When anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned 6 and, as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.
NIV
Let us remember Jesus paid the penalty on the cross, we need to only confess.
